HeartCode® BLS Online

American Heart Association Blended Learning with Cypress Education

HeartCode® BLS Online is the American Heart Association’s blended-learning Basic Life Support program designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need BLS skills for clinical, workplace, or professional responsibilities. The online portion uses adaptive learning technology to create a personalized learning experience based on each student’s performance.

With Cypress Education, students complete the online cognitive portion first, then complete the required hands-on skills session to earn their AHA BLS Provider eCard.

How the Course Works

1. Complete HeartCode® BLS Online

Students complete the self-directed online portion at their own pace. HeartCode® BLS uses interactive activities, knowledge checks, cognitive assessments, illustrations, and realistic scenarios to teach the knowledge and decision-making skills required for Basic Life Support. The system provides immediate feedback and coaching as students progress.

2. Complete Your Hands-On BLS Skills Session

After finishing the online course, students must complete a hands-on skills session with an American Heart Association Training Center or instructor. The online portion alone does not issue the BLS Provider course completion card.

During your Cypress Education skills session, you will practice and demonstrate the physical skills required to perform high-quality BLS in real-world situations.

3. Receive Your AHA BLS Provider eCard

Students who successfully complete both the online cognitive portion and hands-on skills session receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider Course Completion eCard, valid for two years.
